PERSONAL CLOSE-UP

Ron Oseji is from Delta State originally, but has been in Lagos as long as he can remember. Normally, he says he is from Delta State by origin, but from Lagos by nature. He graduated from the University of Lagos in Surveying and Geoinformatics, he went for Post Graduate Diploma in Strategic Management at the Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria. This dude also has a certificate in Management and Entrepreneurship. Mr. Oseji has done a few courses here and there, one with the University of Maryland, USA on Entrepreneurship, and just finished yet another one with the University of Virginia, USA in Business Strategy. He is currently rounding off a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Lagos. Married to Dolapo with two children, Ron Oseji is our Personal Close-up this week.

6.00AM:

In the morning, very early after morning family devotion, I do help out with the house chores as from 6.00am.

7.00AM

I leave the house to drop my son in the school, and then I head to the office.

8.00-9.00AM

Normally I get to the office and the work starts. Immediately I get to the office, the first thing I do is to pray again and bless my day, and then the work starts. Usually, I attend to my email first, one I am through with that, I go straight to the day’s work. Of course, I usually have a ‘To Do List’, I go through the list, and then I start to attend to the things that are pending.

Once the other staff is around, I do a random search by asking each staff what he or she intends doing for the day, after getting feedback, after that we all will get cracking.

If I have meetings for that day, if the meeting is scheduled outside the office, I will go for them. These happen almost on a daily basis.

4.30-5.00PM

I usually leave the office at this hour because I need to pick my son. After I have taken him home, I will still come back to the office. Once I am back, I will still be in the office up till 9.00pm.

9.00PM

I leave the office, once I get home, I will quickly go through the list of my activities for the day.

1.00AM

Sometimes, I retire to bed at about 1.00am, because at that time, I just finished going through list of my activities for the day. I will look for my expenditure for that day, and then balance the account.

Then I will plan for the next day’s activities. Normally I have a monthly schedule, just for me to cross-check to see what has been fixed for that day, then plan along with the other activities pending. I will prepare my ‘To Do List’ afterward, I will go to bed.

Most Saturdays I am always in the office all alone to do some work. So that is my normal every day routine.
